Rasharkin's Got Talent

Summer is coming and as a treat at the end of term, the children were given the opportunity to showcase their talents to the rest of the school.  We had over twenty acts from P1 to P7.  Joe Wylie, Tom Kirkpatrick and Noah Bamford were the comperes.  We were treated to dancing, ankle hopping, singing, piano playing, weight lifting, joke telling, gymnastics and story telling.  The winner of Key Stage 1 was Ella Wilson with a beautiful Irish Dance Routine.  Lydia Wilson with her gymnastics was the Key Stage 2 winner and the overall winner was Janelle McIntyre with her piano solo - Hit the road Jack.  Thanks to our judges Mrs Dundas, Miss Campbell and Miss Louden who had the hard task of choosing the winners.

P5, 6 & 7 Trip to Titanic Quarter

P5, 6 & 7 have been learning about the Titanic as their class topic and they really

enjoyed their visit to the Titanic Quarter.

P1 and 2 Outing to Portglenone Forest 23rd June 2016

P 1 and 2 had a super day at Portglenone Forest. We travelled by coach to the forest and were met there by Liz from the Forestry Department.  She showed us some forest animals:- a fox, badger, hedgehog and a squirrel. We then went for a long walk around the forest using our five senses to explore the forest.  We saw all the different colours of the flowers and trees, we listened to the birds singing,  we used our noses to smell the wild garlic leaves and we used our hands to search for mini beasts. We didn't eat anything in the forest but we had a lovely picnic afterwards.  Thanks to Mrs Lorna Wylie and Mrs Beverley McIlmoyle for coming along to help out on the trip.

P3/4/5 Hillstown Farm visit

P3/4/5 went to visit Hillstown Farm as part of the 'Farm to Fork' Open Farm Week. Farm owner, Nigel Logon met us and organised our days activities. He had a real treat in store for the children including a ride in the trailer, bouncy castles, ride on vehicles, feeding the llamas and chickens, a quad train and a play area. The children got to meet some of the animals and were all very fond of the farm dog Max.

Many thanks for Nigel and all at Hillstown for a wonderful day!

Titanic Science Experiments

As part of their Titanic topic P567 investigated how the cold water affected the bodies of those overboard.  They observed the effects of temperature on motor skills, concentration and heart rate.

Fun Topic Time in P3/4

We have some busy little bodies in P3/4 in our topic times. There are a few budding doctors and nurses! Have a look at a few snaps from our recent topic- 'Our Bodies'.

P3/4/5 Summer Trip to the People's Park

On Wednesday 8th June 2016 the children from P3/4/5 went to the People's Park in Ballymena. A great day was had by all and the sun stayed out for us. It was a jam packed day full of lots of activities including feeding the ducks, scavenger hunt, art attack, teddy bears picnic, an ice-cream treat and fun in the park. There were skeletons appearing all over the People's Park as the children worked in groups to create their own skeletons connecting in with their recent TWAU topic- Our Bodies.

What a great day!
