We were delighted to welcome Pantosaurus to our assembly on Friday. Pantosaurus reminded children of the important safety message of ‘PANTS’ and gave all pupils a copy of the booklet to take home. You can see along with the song again here.
Coaching For Christ have been working in partnership with our school community, helping to provide sessions in a range of areas from PE, PDMU, anti-bullying, cross-cultural experiences, pastoral care and after school clubs. The programme offered children the opportunity to experience quality coaching in a fun environment, alongside discussions based from topics from the Bible. We finished the year off with a fun day on 12th May. The children very kindly made donations towards this and we were able to present £300 to the Coaching for Christ Team. We would like to thank all the coaches for all their work throughout this year.
We were delighted that Toby and Jacob were invited to represent the school at the Ulster Table Tennis Finals. Both boys were very able to play at this high standard, with Toby getting to the quarter finals and Jacob the semi-finals of the consolation group. Well done!
P1, 2 and 3 joined with St.Patrick’s PS for their 3rd Shared Education day. The theme for this year’s activities is Stories in nature. There was shelter building, role play and nest building all taking place. Everyone had lots of fun while learning about characters and settings in books.
We were delighted that our application for a grant to CYPSP was successful. This allowed for the purchase of new football nets for the school, as was requested by the school council. Many thanks to CYPSP for their support and the school councillors for organising it and sending a note of thanks.
Well done to our P6/7 Table Tennis team who were amazing representatives of our school. Fourteen schools took part with thirty- two individual entries in the boys under 12 section. Toby was 3rd overall with Luke getting knocked out in the semi-final. Jacob knocked Ethan out in the consolation semi - final going on to win the consolation group. A very high level of skill was on display in all the matches from our talented team.

It was a pleasure to welcome parents and friends to share a special Easter assembly with us. The pupils performed beautifully, some musical pieces and P7s shared their amazing Easter Week animations. Mrs. Eve McMullan (SU), along with her intern, Ruth, shared a children’s Easter lesson. With many thanks to everyone who worked hard to make this event possible.
Children worked in mixed age teams to find their team’s eggs. On a beautiful sunny morning this was a great way for the children to build their skills of team work and resilience, working hard to keep going until they found all their eggs. Thanks to our school councilors children also worked together in teams to complete a scavenger hunt.
P1/2 enjoyed a great trip to Portglenone Forest, learning about the World Around Us with the help of Liz (Forest Service), alongside their peers from St. Patrick’s PS.
We were delighted to have Sinéad from Kilrea Fire Station visit our school. She talked to the P5 children about the importance of Fire Safety.

A trip to Score, Coleraine, saw our football team take on the Causeway Sports Academy Schools Cup. We had a fantastic morning with lots of skills on show, plenty of goals and making it to the final! The boys worked hard for the team and were a fantastic representation of Rasharkin Primary School. Making it to the final was a huge accomplishment and only narrowly missing out on the trophy in penalties. Well done boys, a great team effort!
Primary 4&5 enjoyed a trip to W5 in Belfast to finish off our celebration of British Science Week. Alongside exploring the museum, we took part in a ‘Seas the Day’ workshop with Matt. He taught us about Belfast Harbour, pulley systems, infrared drones, hovering boats, and local wildlife. What a great way to spend a Friday!
The theme for British Science Week this year was “Change and adapt”. P6/7 had a special STEM day where they were given the challenge to create a marble run that would last 10 seconds. The closest was Thomas and Toby’s run which lasted 6. 45 seconds. Lots of problem solving was involved and there was some great teamwork too.
We have been delighted to work with RISE (NI) staff for many years to support pupils in our school. They have also developed a website with information and guidance to support parents of children throughout primary school, which can be accessed here, or at any time from our ‘For Parents - Links - RISE (NI)’ section of the school website.
Pupils have enjoyed researching and being creative to find costumes for World Book Day. We were so impressed by the effort many pupils went to with their costumes and it was a delight to hear all the lovely conversations about books.
Pupils in P6/7 have the chance to share stories with the pupils from Rasharkin Community Playgroup. What a delight to have these special visitors.

Parent Line NI have also organised this ‘Worry to Wonder’ workshop for parents who are wondering how they can best support their child through worries.
It was great to be able to offer P6/7 children the opportunity to develop their performance skills with Konflux Theatre. Layla worked with children to prepare and then preform a pantomime version of Jack and the Beanstalk, alongside their Shared Education partners from St. Patrick’s PS. We were delighted that so many parents and friends took the time to come and see the short performance and all the wonderful props the pupils made.
Congratulations to these pupils who received certificates in assembly for 'being ‘Kind and Caring’, Super Talking and Listening and having a ‘Great Attitude to Work’ . Pupils also received certificates for their hard work in reading with Accelerated Reading certificates and ReadingEggs certificates. The AR cup was won by Anna, in recognition of her outstanding work in the last half term. Well done to everyone!
