Visit to the Eikon Exhibition Centre

On Wednesday 21st September (International Day of Peace), P6/7 children, along with children from St Patrick's Primary, took part in the largest youth led peace celebration to be held in Northern Ireland.  It was called 'Amazing the Space'.  It took place at the Eikon Exhibition Centre at Long Kesh.  Each school wrote a peace pledge which was attached to a 'Peace Tree'.  This tree will be on show at the Eikon Centre.

Library Visit P4 and P5.

Primary 4 and Primary 5 children went to Kilrea on Thursday morning.  The librarians talked to the children about Fiction Books.  The children practised getting into alphabetical order by surname, to show how books are sorted in the library.  They had a tour of the library and they did a wordsearch.  They also listened to a story and most importantly they were able to borrow books from the library.  They are really looking forward to their next two visits to the library.

Lunchtime Prayer

Each year in September we give the children an opportunity to write a 'Lunchtime Prayer' The winning prayer will be said by everyone, before eating lunch or dinner in the dining hall every day.  We had some really great prayers and pictures.  Our winning prayer was a combination of two prayers written by Isaac and Peri, both in P4. Other winners were :- Tilly P1, Sam P2, Lucy P3, Jodie P4, Alexander P5, Aaron P6 and Lydia  P7.

Farm Safety Competition Winners.

In June many of our children entered posters to the 'Farm Safety Competition' run by Health and Safety Executive.  We were delighted to receive the wonderful news that Stephen had won 1st Prize in Key Stage 1.  He will receive a £50 Gift Card.  Robyn also won 3rd Prize and will receive a £20 Gift Card.  Our school will receive a cheque for £150.  The winning posters will be framed and will be published in next year's 'Farm Safety Calendar'.  Winners will also be announced on Health and Safety Executive Website & Social Media.

Welcome to our new Primary 1 Children!

We are delighted to welcome seven new children into P1. We have five boys and two girls.  They have already settled into the routines of school. They have been enjoying learning in their classroom and also in the playroom.

P2 Gardening

P2 children enjoyed harvesting some of the carrots planted from seed last term.  Unfortunately the slugs got to our cabbages before we did!

Welcome Back!

We hope everyone has had lovely summer holidays and is looking forward to a new school year.  Welcome back!
